This morning while I was working at the shelter with my camera because I wanted to send an update about what scooby can do for a dog, I was going to take pictures of the dogs from the well and show everybody in what wonderful state they are now and how happy they are, then I received a phone call ,somebody has seen some dead galgos. I went to Arevalo and I was carried to the place by two young boys twelve years old who discovered the bodies, like always because that is my policy, I told them to go home, I did not want them to be seen with me in the place because villages are villages in Spain and they could have problems later, so I started to take the pictures and then the police arrived and after that SEPRONA from Avila arrived also , the dogs did not have any identification so is going to be difficult to prosecute the perpetrators of this atrocity, it has just happen after the end of the hunting season, but we are going to make a big noise and we are ready for having a reward of 3000 euros to the one who can give us a clue for taking the one who did that to prison , we are going to publish this on the newspapers in two-three days for keeping the publicity about the case up and also for putting pressure on the authorities for doing something.
I must tell you that I am absolutely determined to put some order and racionality in galgo world and I will do it even if it is the last thing that I will do in my life, I have had enough, enough hanged galgos, enough galgos in wells, enough galgos taken to pounds for making them dissapear; is time for action, is time for being strong and is time to say to the hunters that they will have us always watching every step that they can do, we must attack the problem from the source and this is what I am going to do,overbreeding , lack of identiffication, mistreatment of those beautiful animals must stop and must stop very soon we are tired of waiting while hundreds of dogs are killed in one way or other way , is the time for the hunting federation to start a real adoption program and is time for them for taking their own responsability about these animals , they cannot be sitting down while we kill ourselves rescuing these dogs while they breed more and more. I am sure that I have behind this effort all of you and I am sure that you agree with me about this, please many of you have a galgo from us , look at him-her and then look at the pictures that I have sent today and think what could had happen to your dog if we were not here , this is what I am doing now and believe me it gives to me enough courage and determination for doing all those things we must do it because we owe them this.
